Committee Chair Duties
Room Parent Contact – represents the classroom representatives on the PTA board. Room representatives provide personal contacts between PTA, parents, students, and teachers. Teachers have the opportunity to choose their own room parent.
Dad’s Club – Committee of fathers finding ways to get more involved at their child’s school by volunteering at various events; cook outs, clean up days, golf tournament, etc.
Fall & Spring Dances – This committee plans the Fall Festival and the Spring Fling; purchases supplies, decorates for the event, and volunteers at the event along with other PTA members.
Hospitality – Committee of volunteers who help plan PTA events involving refreshments. Their responsibility is to request food donations from PTA partners and PTA members, set up and serve at these events. Some examples are: Sneak a Peek, Open House, Conference Week teacher meals, Teacher Appreciation week, and the Teacher Post-Planning Luncheon.
Membership – Assist during Open House and PTA meetings and to encourage parents to join PTA and get more involved at their child’s school. The help the membership chairs collect money and distribute membership cards.
Cultural Arts – This committee plans and volunteers at the annual Cultural Arts Festival. Other duties may include greeting and showing artists where they will perform and helping set up and clean after the artist’s luncheon.
Read Across America – Celebration of Dr. Seuss’s Birthday; organizing community volunteers to come into the classrooms to read to the students, helping to set up a hospitality table, greet and welcome guests.
Breakfast with Santa – The committee will plan and organize our holiday celebration in December; from recruiting volunteers to cook breakfast items, to finding a volunteer Santa to take pictures with the children.
School Beautification – They participate in clean up days on our school campus, planting days, help in decision making for budget requests related to beautifying our school and its grounds.
Health & Fitness – This brand new committee will focus on promoting healthy eating habits and increasing physical activities among our KSE families. They will help plan and facilitate interaction between our families and local businesses who promote these same ideals.
Fundraising – These volunteers help prepare the Cherrydale packets to go home with the students, encourage families to participate in this fundraiser to support our school, and will help to count orders and then distribute them to the students when they come in.
Reflections – This committee will work to plan and organize an art program where students can explore their creativity in six arts’ areas. They will have the opportunity to have their entries judged and possibly move on to the state level. Members of this committee will work with several staff members who will help direct them in this process.
